2014 will be remembered by many Tatham residents as the Year of Digging. Most of that digging was connected with the community-led installation of B4RN hyperfast fibre broadband in the parish, but for a small team of Tatham History Society members, that wasn't enough; the time had come to try to answer a longstanding archaeological question centred on a grassy depression beside Crossdale Beck, near Foss Bank in Tatham Fells. The excavation took place in September, and was carried out by society members Lyn Hitch, Graham Hitch, John Wilson, Anne Wilson, and Richard Wilson; and by David Johnson, who also contributed much expertise and advice.
