Image 3. Wedding of Aileen Hodgson & George Stackhouse, Tatham Church 1947
Aileen lived at Garden Cottage, Wennington. Bridesmaids on R of bride: Kathleen Jennings of The Bridge Inn, and Peggy Carr (later Burrows). Lady back L is bride’s mother, Mary Hodgson. The Hodgsons had previously lived in the railway cottages at Clintsfield, where Aileen’s grandparents had been the crossing keepers. George Stackhouse lived in Bolton-le-Sands; his father Richard is the man on the left of the photo. Our thanks to Olive Martin (who lived in Wennington next-door to the Hodgsons) and to Stephen Stackhouse – who was surprised to find an image of his parents’ wedding on the web! – for the information given here.
