Image 1. James Bland
Son of James and Elizabeth (next image). Farmed at Usherwoods from mid 1880s. Later purchased Oakhead Bank, and was farming there in 1913. Married Ann Thompson, daughter of Thomas Thompson, of Maiden Bridge. The dog’s name was Toby.
Image 2. James and Elizabeth Bland
Farmed at Halton in 1870s. James buried at Halton October 1881. Elizabeth moved to Usherwoods with son James and daughter Margaret mid 1880s. Elizabeth died there in 1896, aged 79, and was buried at Halton.
Image 3. Margaret Bland
Daughter of James and Elizabeth (previous image). Lived at Usherwoods to c.1900. Married Thomas Parkinson of Halton. Buried at Halton in 1927, aged 65 years.
Image 4. Fanny Leeming 1888-1977
Born Oakhead Mire, Mewith, 12th October 1888. Attended Tatham Fells school c.1893-1900. Lived with Bland family at Usherwoods c.1888-1900. Married W.H. Hosfield at Halton in 1917. Died at Halton 3rd December 1977. Mother of Bill Hosfield.
